MEDCs & LEDCs
Why do Earthquakes, volcanoes, and floods cause more damage and deaths in less economically developed countries like India, than in more economically developed countries like the U.S.A. and Italy?

Re: MEDCs & LEDCs
In LEDCs, the country experiences more deaths and injuries due to natural hazards due to a number of reasons, the main being the economy - these countries do not have the money to improve infrastructure, healthcare, emergency services (rescue teams etc). A poor education system also means that many people do not know enough about the hazards and therefore the countries are ill-prepared for an earthquake or volcano. Prediction is also an important aspect. In many MEDCs, particulary USA and Japan, they have up-to-date technology (and the skills to use it) to aid in the prediction of quakes.
