| | Why do Earthquakes, volcanoes, and floods cause more damage and deaths in less economically developed countries like India, than in more economically developed countries like the U.S.A. and Italy? |

| | In LEDCs, the country experiences more deaths and injuries due to natural hazards due to a number of reasons, the main being the economy - these countries do not have the money to improve infrastructure, healthcare, emergency services (rescue teams etc). A poor education system also means that many people do not know enough about the hazards and therefore the countries are ill-prepared for an earthquake or volcano. Prediction is also an important aspect. In many MEDCs, particulary USA and Japan, they have up-to-date technology (and the skills to use it) to aid in the prediction of quakes. |
